News from the Team
Hello everyone,
Happy New Year everyone, and it definitely has been here at the brewery. We\'ve been cleared for brewing. We are starting our kettles as we speak. We\'re shooting for a soft opening at the end of February. We will send out invitations to those that are on our email lists for this event. Sort of low key to begin with. Then sometime in late March we will have an all out grand opening. Stay in touch through our website and this newsletter on these upcoming dates.
Where we are currently
Even though the holidays were fun and we all had a good time with friends and relatives, we here at the brewery were busy working on completing as much as we could during the festive season. We\'ve completed the plumbing, tasting area, and electrical. All of the work with the TTB and ABC, these are the government entities that you must deal with in order to manufacturer and sell alcohol, have been completed and approval has been granted. Our final tasks now are to complete the inspections by the environmental health group and the city building inspectors. We\'re keeping our fingers crossed that this will be done within two weeks. Stay tuned, more to come.
Just In Case You Were Wondering
Mash\'mashn:
In brewing and distilling, mashing is the process of combining a mix of milled grain (typically malted barley with supplementary grains such as corn, sorghum, rye or wheat), known as the “grain bill”, and water, known as “liquor”, and heating this mixture with pauses at certain to allow the enzymes in the malt to break down the starch in the grain into sugars, typically maltose to create a malty liquid called wort.
But did you know that the term mash is also used to describe an intense infatuation or the object of infatuation. Those who’ve been shot by cupid’s arrow know that love can spur a desire to hold one’s beloved tightly and never let go. Perhaps that feeling is why “mash”, originally a word for an act of squeezing and crushing, became a term for an intense infatuation or its object in 1870. The more popular “crush” showed its loving side in 1884,and “main squeeze” had begun crossing the lips of sweethearts by 1926. The compound “mash note,” referring to a love letter, has enjoyed many happy years since its union in 1890.1
So with that, all of us here at the CBC wish you all a happy Valentines Day. Visit our website often and be sure to read our future newsletters.
Again thanks from the CBC team for subscribing to our newsletter.
Cheers!
